Hello! Thanks for poppin by! I hope you like my blog! As my only blog (for now), Plies gets my heart and soul poured into it.

Let me tell you a little bit about myself....
I was born in California, but I moved to the South when I was 6. I'd never had ballet classes, except the frilly ones we all do when we're 3, until fall of '09. The only way I agreed to do ballet was so that I could take hip hop classes (that's the policy at my studio). At first, I hated ballet, and loved hip hop. A few weeks later, it was the other way around. In my first year, I was already demonstrating ballet classes for smaller girls. After my first semester and a 6-week summer intensive at my studio, my teacher skipped the next level of classes and promoted me to Ballet III, straight from IIA. That's a pretty big deal.

A lot of you ask me questions about pointe. I received my first pair of pointe shoes on September 29, 2011, so I've been at it for a few years now. Last spring I had an injury in my toes that took me off pointe and out of dance for a season; and it was fatal for my technique. As I regain my strength, I can share intellectual information from books I own, because I am starting fresh again. If anyone is a late beginner, have hope! I accomplished in 2 years what takes most dancers 12 years to complete.

Here at Plies, I try my best to explain my wacky ideas through my own pictures, but sometimes they just aren't good enough. If you ever see anything that is yours, please feel free to email me, and I will remove it or credit you, your choice. Credit is where credit is due!
